The purpose of my final art project for this class was to create a tribute to a few important people who have died. I wanted to do this sort of piece to show my love and appreciation for them. I had planned to draw each person in a way that would make them seem alive again. I wanted each person to be looking at the viewer, hoping they wouldn't seem distant or "not with us." I wanted them to live on and to never be forgotten. The five people I have drawn had impacted the world while they were alive and after their deaths. It is truly unfortunate that they hadn't gotten to live a longer life and that they had suffered, but it is good to think that they are at peace now. Robin Williams, 63, who committed suicide on August 11, 2014. Williams had been battling depression and anxiety, along with Parkinson's disease. He had starred in many different movies and programs such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society, Bicentennial Man, and Mork & Mindy. He had given the world a great deal of happiness with his jokes, laughter, and smiles. David Bowie, 69, who died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016, two days after his birthday. Bowie's death was seen as a work of art. He had impacted the world with his many different eras of music and few roles in movies. He had given us Ziggy Stardust, Space Oddity, Scary Monsters, and left us with Blackstar. Bowie was also known for his role as Jareth, The Goblin King, in Jim Henson's, Labyrinth. Alan Rickman, 69, who died of pancreatic cancer on January 14, 2016. He was widely known for his role as Professor, Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movie series. Rickman's death caused an enormous amount of pain to the Harry Potter fandom. Shortly after he died, fans had decorated Platform 9 3/4 – at London King's Cross railway station – as a memorial. Rickman also gave us Love Actually, Dogma, and Galaxy Quest. John Lennon, 40, who had been assassinated by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980. He was widely known for his role as lead singer of The Beatles and for his solo music career. Lennon worked with Paul McCartney to bring us Abbey Road and Let It Be. In his solo work, he gave us Power to the People and Imagine. Freddie Mercury, 45, who had been diagnosed with AIDS and died on November 24, 1991. He was known worldwide as the lead singer for Queen. He was famous for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range. Mercury gave us many songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Another One Bites the Dust, and We Are the Champions. These five amazing people had impacted the world in many different ways. They will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

For our final project, I plan to draw portraits of famous people who had unexpected deaths or who's deaths impacted the world. I plan to draw them in pencil on 11x14 white paper... I plan to draw Robin Williams, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Freddie Mercury, and John Lennon. These people mean a lot to me and my family.
This student's artwork shows great form and contrast. They were able to control their brush/paint. It has great texture.
In my piece, I mostly used the same colors, just different shades. I also used many layers.. And it has contrast too.
